As soon as we caught a glimpse of Sardinia’s vibrant blue waters, we knew we were in for a week of absolute bliss.
Our stay was in Arzachena on the northeast corner of Sardinia, the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Sardinia, like its neighboring island Sicily, is known first and foremost for its stunning beaches, its long coastline spotted with rocky terrain, and ancient ruins.
For those familiar with Spaced Magazine, you know our top priority is destinations for exploration and discovery. We planned Sardinia, however, on the tail end of our month in Italy to complete a trip of true adventure with some time to rest, reflect, and decompress.
Hotel La Rocca reflects the breathtaking beauty of the entire island and honors the nature that surrounds it, while remaining distinct in its design. It’s minimal white design includes accents of authentic Italian architecture, mirroring an aesthetic that many attribute to the islands of Greece–white-washed, low-lying buildings with fluted rooftops, all while remaining integrated with nature.
The most notable feature of the resort was its expansive pool, with icy blue waters that mimicked those of the Mediterranean Sea, and lounge chairs surrounding a large granite rock in the center of the pool, a reflection of the terrain that has long been a distinct and defining characteristic of Sardinia. The hotel also features an indoor and outdoor lounge, the elegant Le Volte restaurant, and well manicured gardens.
Though the property itself held enough experiences to last us an entire trip, in true Spaced Magazine fashion, we uncovered much more in the surrounding area. Keep an eye out for our other adventures in Sardinia, reaching Spaced Magazine soon.
